Nanny care for first-time parents in and around East Lansing

Robin helped educate us on HOW to be good parents…I’m now confident in how to care for my child. Robin did that for me; what an amazing gift.

Having a baby is life changing!

As beautiful and wonderful as newborns are, they can also be exhausting and overwhelming for everyone in your household, especially as first-time parents! That’s why you may need an extra set of hands to help you adjust to a new routine, especially when things get busy.

Maternal Moon was created with this transition period in mind.

I support you and your baby in the following ways:

  • provide exceptional care while you get settled after childbirth, transition back to work, or until your baby begins daycare, Montessori, or other childcare options.

  • teach you about newborn and baby care basics (swaddling, diapering, feeding, fussiness, umbilical and circumcision care, bathing, nursery essentials, etc)

  • help you with nursery prep and organization, laundry and linens

  • offer specialized support around colic and reflux, baby massage, and baby proofing

  • support your baby’s developmentally appropriate sleep skills and set a solid sleep foundation for naps and overnight sleep

  • be a personal and friendly support for you, the parents (I’m a great listener!)

  • provide light housekeeping

  • order groceries online for parents

  • cook homemade meals

  • teach your baby sign language (starting around 5 months old)

Robin of Maternal Moon gently holding a newborn client, showcasing her nurturing touch as a certified newborn nanny

Hi there, I’m Robin!

I’m passionate about easing the transition that families endure when bringing home their new baby. In fact, I love caring for newborns, but toddlers are amazing too!

My goal is to come in and help you, your family, and your child to make life easier on all of you, in a non-judgmental way.

If you’re a new parent, it’s not uncommon for questions to arise after the baby is born; questions regarding napping, sleeping through the night, feeding, fussiness, bathing, reflux, swaddling, diapering and changing baby, sleep shaping, or nursery essentials. These are things that are learned over time.

Let me support you as new parents not only by helping you with the baby, but also to answer any questions and teach you all about newborn and baby care. There’s a lot to be said for having someone around just to listen and share excitement and concerns with, and that’s why I’m there whenever you need me.

FAQs

  • For nanny services, I’m available to families living in Lansing and the surrounding areas.

  • Every family is different; it clearly depends on their situation and needs. But typically, care looks something like this:

Short-term care might look like 5 to 6 hours per day, 2 to 3 days per week, for a month or two. I can look after your baby so that you can rest, look after yourself, or run errands. Many times parents are looking for short-term care when they first come home from the hospital.

Long-term care might consist of 3 to 5 days per week anywhere between two months to two years while you transition back to work or wait for your baby to begin daycare or Montessori.

The longer I am with your family, the better I can personalize my care by helping your baby nap more predictably, and teaching your baby sign language as they start communicating more and more.

If we agree to work together, a signed contract is required. This limits confusion and ensures that both parties are on the same page when it comes to expectations and responsibilities for all.

  • At this time, I only care for one child at a time, giving exceptonal care to that child.

  • No, I do not drive anywhere with a baby in the car. We will, however, go for walks in the stroller or wagon, and trips to the library or a park if there’s one nearby!
